CYT Programs

CYT's Programs are things that don't fit under Classes or Shows. Please explore our awesome programs.

College Credit Courses

In 2005, Christian Community Theater (CCT) began a partnership with San Diego Christian College (formerly Christian Heritage College founded by Dr. Tim LaHaye, of the Left Behind series fame, and Dr. Henry Morris, well-known Institute of Creation Research founder) in which High School graduates may receive a Music Degree with an emphasis in Children's Theater or Musical Theater.

San Diego is known as one of the leading cities in the nation for theater. Students will be exposed to a wide variety of professional theater as well as working directly with CCT. Students will take course work through SDCC and from CCT and will receive practical training at one of our county-wide CYT Area Programs. This unique program will equip the students to be outstanding leaders in church music programs, performing arts programs, and children’s theater programs.

CYT@School

Sharing performing arts… one school at a time.

Mission Statement:
CYT@school is devoted to introducing performing arts to children, one school at a time, by providing a high-quality experience that is educational and enjoyable.

Many schools have had to cut their arts programs so CYT@school is dedicated to bringing to your school a low-cost, after school program developed to support the performing arts training in public and private schools. Research has shown that performing arts helps students gain confidence, build leadership skills and develop a sense of community. CYT wants to ensure that students everywhere have an opportunity to experience theater arts.

Our program consists of 8 weeks of drama, voice and dance which offer sound theater art instruction while also building character. All participating students will perform in an end-of-session showcase that is literature based while still being very popular with students. Our teachers are enthusiastic, fun, positive role models who lead and inspire.

CYT curriculum is based on visual and performing arts content standards for California public schools, Pre-K thru grades 12. There are two components to our program. One is introducing many of the California theatre content standards, and the second is to apply those standards in a performance showcase for family and friends. CYT is certified through the San Diego County Office of Education Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA).

HYPE

The goal of HYPE is to challenge and grow the advanced students of CYT to be leaders and get involved by serving the community around them. To look at all aspects of theater, not just from the actor’s point of view. And to continue to grow as an individual, committing themselves to excellence in all they do.
