Class Description

In this class, you discover what you and your voice can really do on its own or in a small group! Discover your own voice capabilities, range, and learn how to “bridge the gap” between the upper and lower range of the voice (commonly called the “head voice” and “chest voice”). Or, come learn to harmonize together! Learn blending, listening skills, lead vocals and creating basic chords within a duet, a trio or a quartet!

Skills to be covered may include:
  • Review of voice techniques, proper posture, breathing, articulation
  • Learn and practice how to sight read music and follow your part
  • Listen for and demonstrate blending within a duet, trio or quartet
  • Create harmonies by identifying the root, the 3rd and the 5th of given chords
  • Create character relationships between performers in duet, trio or quartet
  • Prepare selections with other members of the class to show off your new skills.

Hello! My name is Bethany Odegaard, and I am passionate about music, theater, and the arts. I have been involved in music my whole life, specifically in voice, piano, and guitar. I teach piano, voice, children's choirs, and lead worship at my church regularly. I graduated from SDSU with a degree in Liberal Arts, and received my Master's Degree from National University in Reading Specialization. The best part about my life is my faith in Jesus, and my family - my husband, Matt, and my 4 children.
