Class Description

Acting without a script? That’s Improv! This class teaches basic improvisational skills as well as perfecting students’ abilities to think on their feet! Students will learn how to create a scene, character, and conflict in a matter of seconds as they master the rules of improvisational acting. Upon completion of this course, students will have experience in the following areas:
  • The basic tenets of Improv.
  • Thinking creatively and quickly as a team
  • Effectively initiating and navigating the necessary steps involved in creating an Improv. scene
*Note: no class on  Dec. 17th, Dec. 24th, Dec. 31st, Feb. 18th


Liz Norling

Liz is a retired theater teacher. She has taught all age groups; from preschool through adults. Most recently, Liz taught drama for eight years at at a Fine Arts Magnet School in Peoria, Arizona where she taught kindergarten - eighth grade. She also directed two shows a year and ran a theater camp for fourth-eighth grade students each summer. Besides her training in theater education, Liz has extensive training through the John F. Kennedy Center, where she became an Arts Integration Specialist within her school district. Along with teaching theater, Liz worked with classroom teachers to integrate arts strategies within the academic curriculum for all grades. Liz is married to Troy, a pastor at Legacy Church in Tierrasanta. They've been married for thirty years! Her son, Caleb is 22 years old and performs with Arms Wide Open in El Cajon! Liz loves to write and direct plays and is obsessed with true Crime!
