Learn how to use your voice correctly and learn some of the techniques that will help you be a better vocalist. Every student will learn to sing together in a group as well as do some solo work. You will learn correct posture and breathing techniques, phrasing and how to stay on pitch.

Skills to be covered include:
Learn to use the diaphragm
Learn the basics of voice control
Demonstrate proper posture
Learn vocal warm-up exercises
Learn breathing and breath control
Understand the importance of diction and articulation
Understand and demonstrate pitch, flat and sharp
Identify and demonstrate musical phrasing
Understand musical genres and styles of music

Janelle Wilson

Janelle Wilson graduated from San Diego Christian College with a bachelor's degree in Music. She has been teaching voice, violin, and piano, privately for almost ten years. She teaches students all over San Diego as well as with CYT. She just recently started teaching with San Diego College District and has an all woman's chorus she directs. She is a worship leader at her church Convergence SD in the San Carlos La Mesa area, and loves to sing and play violin and piano to her Savior Jesus Christ. She just returned from teaching music and leading worship at a youth camp in Ukraine this summer 2019.
