Frequently Asked Teen Retreat Questions:

Are the kids supervised?
We have plenty of adult supervision. We have a Camp Coordinator and 8 CYT counselors on site. There are also full time staff members from Pine Valley on the campus at all times.

What are the accommodations?
Campers stay in separate cabins/lodges, girls with girls and guys with guys. We allow campers to submit one roommate request after registration. Roommate requests are not guaranteed and are more likely to be accommodated when mutual requests are made.

What if my child has food allergies?
Pine Valley is able to accommodate several food allergies. For a complete list of allergies they can work around, click HERE.

What if my child is not old enough for the camp?
Campers must be at least 13 years old by the first day of camp to attend. There are no exceptions to this policy.

Do students get to have a cell phone?
CYT is not responsible for loss or damage of cell phones. Although they are allowed to have them, there will be times that they must keep cell phones off or out of hands. When you drop your child off for camp you will be given the Camp Administrator cell phone number for emergency contact, as well as the number to the main office at Pine Valley.

Are students allowed to leave camp?
No, however, with prior permission for extreme circumstances, campers may be allowed to leave with a parent for a short period of time. This needs to be approved by the Camp Administrator. You can email camps@cytsandiego.org with any questions.

What if my child has special or specific needs?
CYT openly welcomes all campers. If your camper is able to function in a group/class setting, but just needs a little extra help or attention - our counselors will work alongside them to make sure they have a phenomenal camp experience. Once registered, you will receive a form that allows you to explain any special or specific needs that your camper has - the more info we have the better! That information is shared only with your camper's counselors so they can help your camper have a fun and successful week of camp. If your camper requires one-on-one attention and assistance please contact camps@cytsandiego.org.  CYT is unable to provide personal aides for campers.

Do you have to be a Christian to come to CYT?
No. CYT holds to Judeo-Christian values of family, community, leadership and positive encouragement. We welcome all kids of varying faiths, backgrounds and beliefs.
