What is the audition process? How do I sign up?

For CCT productions, the Audition Form will be listed under Upcoming Audition Opportunities. You can also find the Audition Form on the Cast Hub for that production, which is located on the Shows page.

The Audition Form is extremely detailed requiring a lot of information to be submitted. Some of this information is as follows:
  • Headshot
  • Measurements (for costume purposes)
  • Rehearsal Conflicts (these are required to be provided prior to Casting)
  • Choice(s) of Vocal/Dance/Instrumental audition
  • Audition Track Attachment(to accompany vocal auditions)

VOCAL AUDITIONS
All Vocal Auditioners will need to participate in either the basic level dance audition or the advanced level dance audition based on your selection of your known skill level.

The audition process is as follows:
  • Arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled audition time to check in. You will select an audition time slot when you sign up via the Audition Form.
  • You will be given an audition number and placed in a group of 10 based on your audition time.
  • Auditioners will go in numeric order:
    • Slate- say their Name, how old they are and what song they will be singing
    • Sing- a one minute song of their choosing. This should be an appropriate song in their range. An accompanying audio track (MP3, MP4) is required.
  • Once the group is finished, you are done with the vocal portion of the audition. You will return for the dance portion of the audition which everyone does together.
DANCE AUDITIONS
Those participating in the Dance Auditions (both Vocalists and Dancers) will be put into 2 groups based on their own selection of skill set: basic or advanced dance ability. Dance auditions will be held on the same evening as the Vocal Auditions and begin once the Vocal Audition time window has closed. This will be pre-determined each production.

INSTRUMENTAL AUDITIONS
Those participating in the Instrumental Auditions will submit a video of a recent performance. Should an individual wish to submit multiple instrument auditions, they can simply add additional attachments.

Casting

Not everyone is guaranteed a role after their audition. Unfortunately there are a limited number of spaces, and the number of people cast varies from show to show. However, if you are cast, here are some things to expect:
  • You must be at ALL rehearsals for which you are scheduled. If an absence is necessary, it must be clearly stated on your Audition Form. Conflicts will be taken under consideration during casting. Any cast member missing more than two rehearsals may not be able to participate in the show. Conflicts (other than illness) presented after casting will not be allowed.
  • Leaving early or arriving late is considered a conflict, and must be submitted prior to casting.
  • You must commit to approximately 40 hours of rehearsal time before move-in and dress rehearsal week.
  • You must attend Costume Fitting.
  • You must attend ALL Dress/Tech rehearsals.
  • You must be at ALL Performances.
  • You must pay a Production Fee of: $200-1st family member, $150-2nd family member, $100-each additional family member which includes a Show T-shirt.
  • For students who do NOT have parent/guardian cast in the production, parents must agree to attend parent meetings and serve approximately 20 hours on a production team.
  • Each family is encouraged to sell at least 10 tickets to the show.
At CCT & CYT, we are committed to keeping integrity, fairness, and impartiality at the center of our audition and casting processes. Please reference our Casting Integrity Policy.

Parents must agree to the following:
