What should I expect on the first day of camp?
The fun starts right away! Follow the CYT signs to the check-in table where the adult dropping off will be introduced to our onsite CYT Chapter Coordinator and will receive some important information regarding the week. You'll then be directed to the room where you will drop off and pick up your camper every day. When you get to the room you'll be greeted by camp staff who will help include your camper in the morning game and make them feel welcomed and comfortable.

What if my child is upset the first day of camp? Can I stay with them?
We find that at times, especially for younger campers, the first day can be a bit overwhelming. Our staff is equipped to look out for children who may need encouragement to participate. Staff may come over and try to engage your child in the opening game or introduce them to other campers. Parents are welcome to stay through opening activities, but once campers break into groups, we've found that mom or dad's presence sometimes makes it more difficult. Almost always, once campers have a few minutes to see what fun camp is, they quickly adjust. Please be assured that if your child remains upset, we will contact you.

What if my child is not old enough for the camp?
Your student must reach the age of eligibility by Monday of the camp they wish to attend. We have divided our camps into 2 year age ranges in order to properly cater to the developmental levels of every camper.

How will I know who is in charge?
Our teachers and volunteer aides will be wearing a CYT Summer camp shirt and CYT name tag.

What if my child has special or specific needs?
CYT openly welcomes all children. If your child is able to function in a group/class setting, but just needs a little extra help or attention - our counselors will work alongside them to make sure they have a phenomenal camp experience. Once registered, you will receive a form that allows you to explain any special or specific needs that your child has - the more info we have the better! That information is shared only with your child’s counselors so they can help your child have a fun and successful week of camp. If your child requires one-on-one attention and assistance we require a family member to stay with them at camp. CYT is unable to provide personal aides for campers.

What does my child bring?
Campers will need to bring a lunch, a water bottle, and a snack.
We sell assorted snacks for $1 each such as: granola bars, fruit snacks, brownies, chips, juice, water, etc.
WE DO NOT SELL OR PROVIDE LUNCH - please send your camper with a full lunch.

What if my child doesn’t know anyone?
Many of our campers are new to CYT. We encourage a very friendly and welcoming atmosphere where kids will meet new friends. Our Staff ensures that everyone is always included in games, activities, and even lunch time! No one sits alone at CYT Camp!

What should my child wear?
We encourage comfortable dance and play friendly clothing each day. If your child wears a dress or a skirt they must wear shorts underneath. We ask for all children to wear closed toed shoes with a back of some kind (please no flip flops or clogs). Please apply sunscreen before coming to camp.

How do you handle allergies?
Please let us know of any allergies on your enrollment form. Our staff will be alerted to the allergy and maintain a high level of awareness. If there is a severe food allergy in the camp all of the families are alerted and asked not to bring in that food. During the camp week surfaces are wiped before and after eating, campers wash their hands before and after eating, and a Staff Member will sit with the child to ensure no allergen comes their way. Medication and directions can be left with the Camp Coordinator.

Is there a nurse on staff?
We do not have a nurse on staff. However, each location has at least one certified first aid/CPR trained staff member.

What is your cancellation/refund policy?
Due to the extreme popularity of our camps, we do not offer refunds or cancellations for any reason except medical or family emergencies.

Can I sign up the first day of camp?
All of our registration is done online, so please check for availability. Many of our camps fill up so we encourage early registration.

Is there a sibling discount?
Yes! The discount is $10 off of the cost of tuition.

Are there scholarships available for camps?
CYT is pleased to offer financial assistance to families who would otherwise not be able to participate in our programs. Please review our qualification levels here.  If you qualify, click HERE for our scholarship application.  E-mail Managing Director, Laura Bertagnolli, at laura@cytsandiego.org with any questions.

What about supervision?
Your child’s safety is our utmost concern. Each person hired by CYT has completed a background check and camp staff training. CYT limits the maximum attendance in order to maintain a safe leader/student ratio. Each camp is assigned two Counselors:
2 Mini Camp Counselors
2 Junior Camp Counselors
2 Senior Camp Counselors
So there are always 6 Camp Counselors on site. There is also a Camp Administrator for every camp. We try to maintain a supervision ratio of 1 staff member per 9 students for ages 8-10 and 1 staff member per 6 students for ages 5-6.

Who do I contact in case of emergency during camp?
On the first day of camp when you drop off your child, you will be provided the contact cell number of your area's Camp Administrator in case of an emergency.

Do you have to be a Christian to come to CYT?
No. CYT holds to Judeo-Christian values of family, community, leadership and positive encouragement. We welcome all kids of varying faiths, backgrounds and beliefs.

How long is the Camp Showcase at the end of the week?
The showcase will range from 20-30 minutes.
